Engagement Session Guideline

After busy summer and many engagement sessions, I have decided to write this Engagement session guideline.
How to prepare for my engagement session.
I have broken it down to a few rules that will help up to get the best possible engagement pictures and have fun on your session. An engagement session is highly recommended, but not required. Most couples are camera-shy and freeze up when the camera starts to roll. This is where I come in. Having an experienced wedding photographer to guide you and captures natural poses and chemistry between the couple is essential. My job is to show you how to be comfortable in front of the camera.

Rule No. 1: Trust your engagement photographer.

You have chosen your engagement photographer, future wedding photographer for a reason so now I want you to trust the person you are working with. You've seen my photos, right? None of these couples are models.

Rule no. 2: Location.

It is very important that you are familiar with the location that you will go for your session. I can give you always some suggestions and tips on where to go, but it always should be a place that you love or have some memories with. When choosing an engagement session location, a place that represents you both as a couple usually yields the best results. Whether it’s the place where you first met, where you went on your first date, or somewhere you two frequent often–the possibilities are endless!

Rule no.3: What to Wear for Engagement Photos

Solid colours work best. Avoid super busy prints! I personally love it when the colours pop. Colour coordinate, but don’t be super matchy. Bring two outfits - one dressy one more casual. Bring spare, comfortable pair of shoes. Heels look great but are not always comfortable. Wear Clothes That Make You Feel Like You. Flatter Your Body Type.

Rule no. 4: Accessorise :)

Accessories, such as a stylish scarf or a beach hat, add serious "wow" factor no matter what you're wearing. Think also about a theme. Let's have a picnic, bring your dog or your favourite board game. Make the session all about you two and think it through. Don't rush with your session, talk about different ideas together and make it very special and intimate.

Rule no.5: Water, hairbrush and a mirror :)

It is so obvious to bring these things, and most couples forget the little things that are very useful. You can schedule your engagement session at any time prior to your wedding day.  An engagement session is an excellent time for us to get to know each other.
